Honourable Prime Minister, 

Honourable Speaker of the House, 

Ladies and Gentlemen, Hungarians in the Carpathian Basin and all around the world,
I stand before you and welcome you as the seventh President of the free Hungary, which dismantled the communist dictatorship. First and foremost, I would like to thank all those who have supported me and continue to do so.

Every year, the Three Seas Initiative (TSI) summit and business forum is organised with the participation of 13 countries (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Austria, Croatia, Romania, Greece, Bulgaria, Poland, Slovenia, Austria, Croatia and Bulgaria), situated between the Baltic, Black and Adriatic Seas.

Tamás Sulyok had a telephone conversation today with Israeli President Isaac Herzog.

The President of the State of Israel congratulated Tamás Sulyok on his election as President of Hungary. The two Heads of State reviewed the most important bilateral and international political issues. During the exchange of views, the Hungarian President stressed that Hungary is a close ally and best friend of Israel as well as its strategic partner in Europe.

Today, President Tamás Sulyok, in fulfilment of his constitutional duty, called the election of the members of the European Parliament in Hungary and the general election of local municipality representatives and mayors. 

The first simultaneous elections will take place on 09 June 2024.

We can become the renovated church of Europe, where people come to draw strength, said Tamás Sulyok, the President of Hungary, at the reconsecration ceremony of Ják’s St. George Church  (Vas County, Hungary) on Sunday.

Tamás Sulyok emphasized the need for revitalizing our communities.

We need to rebuild ourselves to each other, setting aside all obstacles, fears, uncertainties, and distrust, although this is not easy in the era of infidelity, where we lose the grace of connection, stated the President.

Tamás Sulyok: deepening the dialogue between Hungary and Poland is a key priority

Maintaining and deepening the dialogue between Poland and Hungary is of the utmost importance, said President of Hungary Tamás Sulyok at a joint press conference with President Andrzej Duda in Stary Sacz, southern Poland, on Friday.

The Hungarian President arrived in Poland on a working visit to mark the Day of Polish-Hungarian Friendship (23 March).

Open days at Sándor Palace

A year ago, at my inauguration, I promised to „open doors” for Hungary in the international arena, as well as at home, between Hungarians. 

This is also why on the anniversary, Sándor Palace welcomed those interested with open gates. Thus, thousands have seen the palace this year as well.

I thank all those who came to visit, young and old, residents of the countryside and the capital, supporters of the opposition or the government, people from all walks of life.

This day proved again that Sándor Palace is open to all.

I found my meetings in Békés very rewarding, and I trust that I was not the only one who felt this way - said Katalin Novák, President of Hungary, in an interview with our newspaper - the Békés Megyei Hírlap - about the three days she spent in our county at the end of January. During our conversation, we discussed how to motivate young people to settle in the region, spoke about the war in Ukraine and this year's elections, and why she declared 2024 the Year of Getting Active.

That I'm here for the first time, I experienced that it is, let's say, a constructive chaos, what we experience here, and also what the traffic is concerned, it's very difficult to get from one place to the other, but I have to assure you that the Swiss trains are on time. Appointments as minister at Sándor Palace

On a proposal by the Prime Minister, President of Hungary Katalin Novák appointed Dr. János Bóka Minister for EU Affairs, and Dr. Bence Tuzson as Minister for Justice.
The Head of State wished the newly appointed ministers every success in their new tasks starting from 1 August.
 

Stipendium Peregrinum 4.0

President of Hungary Katalin Novák launched Hungary’s Stipendium Peregrinum (Stipi) scholarship programme four years ago, as State Secretary for Family Affairs. Now she visited the two-day Stipi camp in Balatonszárszó as Main Patron, where forty-nine young people competed for – by their popular name - the Stipi-scholarships, covering the study costs at prestigious foreign universities for one year for the best students.

Katalin Novák paid a three-day visit to Nógrád County

President of Hungary Katalin Novák began her visit to Nógrád County on Monday morning, and met with the county’s local leaders as well as with the county’s Members of Parliament.
At the meeting, the parties reviewed the issues the people of Nógrád are most concerned about, after which the Head of State received the ambassadors and heads of mission of Arab countries accredited to Hungary in Alsópetény, sending a signal that not only Budapest but also country towns can be the venue of events of presidential diplomacy.

Ultramarathon runner Szilvia Lubics was the guest of SP Talks, a programme series hosted by Sándor Palace. Szilvia Lubics was interviewed by President of Hungary Katalin Novák.

The President directed attention to Szilvia Lubics’s heroic and extraordinary achievements, which in her opinion can motivate many. She pointed out that Szilvia is not only an exceptional athlete, but also an exceptional human being. 

Katalin Novák expressed her condolences to the relatives of the victims of the military helicopter crash

"My sincere condolences to the relatives of the airforcemen who died in the helicopter crash, Hungary stands by you!" – the President of Hungary said. Katalin Novák thanked the Croatian rescue teams for their work and President of Croatia Zoran Milanovic for his support. The President of Croatia expressed his condolences on the telephone. 

A new chapter has opened in Hungarian-Serbian relations

We have arrived at a new chapter in the Golden Age of Hungarian-Serbian relations – said President of Hungary Katalin Novák in Palics on Tuesday, at the press conference held on the occasion of the establishment of the Hungarian-Serbian Cooperation Council.

Katalin Novák highlighted: the establishment of a Strategic Cooperation Council by Hungary and Serbia shows that the decisions adopted are not tactical, but strategic in their nature, as there is a commitment to lay the foundations for a long-term friendship, a long-term cooperation between Hungary and Serbia.

Go, Hungarians! – Katalin Novák at the 16th Special Olympic Games in Berlin

President of Hungary Katalin Novák attended the opening ceremony of the 16th Special Olympic Games in Berlin. 
The Hungarian Olympic athletes took their oath at Sándor Palace before their departure. It was then that the President of Hungary promised to cheer with them in Berlin for the Hungarian team. 

Before the opening ceremony, the President met with the members of the Hungarian team again at Hungary’s embassy in Berlin, where they visited the photo exhibition “Dual fantasy”. 

Katalin Novák conducted talks with the Federal President of Germany

Ahead of the Special Olympic Games in Berlin, President of Hungary Katalin Novák had a meeting with Federal President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between the two countries. Germany is one of Hungary's most important allies.
 

Katalin Novák: we need more women in public life

We need more women in public life – said President of Hungary Katalin Novák at the graduation ceremony of the Female Public Leadership Programme, Grade 5, of Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC) at Sándor Palace in Budapest on Friday. 

The Head of State added that for this, three things are needed: the opportunities must be put in place, and public life must be made appealing for men and women, but also, it is necessary to demonstrate through our own personal examples that all this is possible and viable.
