Heads of State attend the inauguration ceremony of Pope Leo XIV.
President of Hungary Tamás Sulyok leads the official Hungarian delegation to Rome to attend the Holy Mass marking the beginning of Pope Leo XIV's Petrine ministry. The Holy Mass will take place in St. Peter's Square in the Vatican on 18 May 2025 at 10 am.
The Hungarian delegation, led by Tamás Sulyok, will also include Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén, representing the government.
Following the ceremony presided over by Pope Leo XIV, the Bishop of Rome will meet with public dignitaries from all over the world, including representatives of the Hungarian delegation.
On the day of Leo XIV's election, President Sulyok wrote a letter to the new Pope expressing his good wishes. The President of Hungary thanked the Catholic Mother Church for being a witness to the love of Almighty God and Christ made man, and for continuing to be a steadfast advocate of peace, love of neighbour and human dignity.
