The Speaker of the National Assembly calls the leaders of the Government and the parliamentary parties to a meeting

The extreme heatwave affecting Hungary, the critically low water levels in the Danube, the resulting need to shut down the nuclear power plant, and the Level 3 water restrictions in force in several localities have created an exceptional situation that requires coordinated and immediate action.

In view of all this, the Speaker of the National Assembly, acting within the scope of the President of Hungary’s powers and responsibilities, has requested an urgent and extraordinary briefing from the Prime Minister on the measures taken by the Government so far and on any further measures planned.

As there will be no extraordinary plenary sitting in the National Assembly next week, due to the current situation, Speaker Ágnes Forsthoffer considered it important that the leaders of the parliamentary parties should also have the opportunity to receive information directly from the Prime Minister and put questions to him. She therefore invited them to the briefing scheduled for Monday, 3 August 2026.
