The President of the State of Israel congratulated Tamás Sulyok on his election as President of Hungary. On 9 June 2024, on the day of the elections to the European Parliament, local governments and of national minority advocates, Tamás Sulyok, President of Hungary and his wife cast their votes in Szeged. After the vote, the President said that since there have been free elections in Hungary, his wife Zsuzsa and he have always exercised their right to vote, and again urged his fellow citizens to vote as well.

Today, we have the opportunity to witness an exceptional event. Firstly, it is six years since a new member joined the ranks of the Hungarian Corvin Chain. It was therefore high time for more Hungarians to receive the award.
On the other hand, it was the first time that as many as two Nobel laureates were elected to the Board of the Corvin Chain simultaneously.
The Head of State received Israel’s Minister of Foreign Affairs in Sándor Palace
During the meeting with Israel Katz, the President of Hungary highlighted that since the beginnings, Hungary has consistently taken the position that Israel has every right to defend itself, to protect its country and citizens.
President Sulyok firmly condemned the attack by Hamas on October 7th and the activities of the terrorist organisation.
Dr. Tamás Sulyok expressed hopefulness concerning the Israeli steps taken to facilitate the admission of humanitarian aid supplies intended for the Gaza Strip.
Appointments at Sándor Palace
Dr. Tamás Sulyok, the President of Hungary, appointed Dr. Zsolt Csák and Dr. Tibor Kalas as Vice Presidents of the Curia.

Paying tribute to the heroes – A bow of heads at Plot 301
President of Hungary Dr. Tamás Sulyok remembered Prime Minister Imre Nagy and his fellow martyrs executed on 16 June 1956 as well as the victims of the retaliation in the aftermath of the 1956 Revolution at Plot 301 of the Rákoskeresztúr New Public Cemetery.
The Head of State bowed his head in reverence and placed a wreath of remembrance at the memorial site erected at the graves of the heroes and victims of ’56.
The President of Hungary approves the report of the leaders of Hungary’s armed forces
Tamás Sulyok, President of Hungary, in his capacity as Chief of the Hungarian Defence Forces, received Colonel General Gábor Böröndi, Chief of Staff of the Hungarian Defence Forces, and Major General Norbert Tajti, Director General of the Military National Security Service.
During the official meeting, the current crisis zones, military conflicts and the development and technical preparedness of the Defence Forces were discussed.
Appointment of Balázs Hankó, Minister of Culture and Innovation
On 11 June, at Sándor Palace, Tamás Sulyok, President of Hungary, appointed Balázs Zoltán Hankó as Minister of Culture and Innovation, effective 1 July, at the proposal of the Prime Minister.

The President of Hungary received the Head of Collegium Hungaricum at Sándor Palace
Tamás Sulyok met with Krisztina Lantos, the Head of Collegium Hungaricum in Rome, at Sándor Palace. During the meeting, the President commended the lasting achievements of Collegium Hungaricum, an institution committed to preserving and strengthening Hungarian culture in Italy.
The Head of State thanked the head of the institution and her staff for their work, which he had the opportunity to witness in person during his previous visit to the Vatican.
Historical commemoration ceremony in Geszt
On The Day of National Unity, President Sulyok attended a state ceremony in Geszt and visited the newly restored Tisza Castle.
The building complex now features an exciting interactive exhibition that tells the story of the Tisza family, whose fate came to be intertwined with Hungarian history in the Post-Compromise Period, with special focus on the life of the martyred Prime Minister István Tisza.
During the visit, János Lázár, Minister of Construction and Transport, gave the public dignitaries and other guests a guided tour of the exhibition.
Appointment at Sándor Palace
The President of Hungary appointed Katalin Éva Ocskó as Deputy President of the National Office for the Judiciary.
Tamás Sulyok congratulated the appointee.
