The World Expo not only inspires, but also shows new paths - Tamás Sulyok opened the National Day of Hungary

Expo 2025 Osaka not only inspires, but is also a guide to new directions and encourages action - emphasized President Tamás Sulyok at the World Expo while opening the Hungarian National Day.

According to the Head of State, these occasions are a good opportunity to promote global cooperation and encourage joint action on the issues raised.

He described Japan as a country with a unique culture and unparalleled economic performance, home to a respectable people. The President said that the development and innovative performance that has made the island nation one of the largest economies is admirable, and that Japan's performance is respected everywhere, including Hungary.

"Japan is also a stimulus to the world in economic and cultural terms," said Tamás Sulyok.

The President emphasized that it is important to further strengthen the special relationship between Japan and Hungary, for which the World Expo is a great opportunity.

Referring to the central theme of Expo 2025 Osaka, the Head of State pointed out that changes in society are forcing us to look for new ways to make the future liveable, and this requires the use of the most modern technologies.

He also drew attention to the role of communities, in addition to the central issues that will shape our future, including the promotion of peaceful coexistence between nations and cultures, respect for the dignity of human life, protection of the Earth and sustainability of the environment.

Tamás Sulyok emphasized that the area closest to his heart is highlighting the role of communities, and exploring how to preserve and foster vibrant, supportive ones.

The President of Hungary went on to say that the interest in Hungary, Hungarian culture and creativity is obvious, and hopefully the experiences visitors gain at Hungary’s National Day will be a source of inspiration for them, whether they are looking for business opportunities, cultural experiences or just want to get to know a unique and valuable community like the Hungarian. 

Japan and Hungary established diplomatic relations in 1869, and since then, for more than 150 years, the two countries have deepened their ties of friendship and developed excellent cooperation in many fields of economy, politics, culture and science.
