Hungarians are loved and appreciated in the province of Ontario, and the Hungarian community here can count on Hungary as much as on Canada, said President Katalin Novák in Toronto, where she attended the closing gala event of Hungarian Heritage Month. 

Katalin Novák paid an official visit to re-elected President of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen in Vienna. During a private meeting, the two Heads of State discussed the war in Ukraine, the situation of Hungarians in Transcarpathia, the need for energy independence, the issue of immigration and migration, and the importance of continuing the EU enlargement process to include the Western Balkans.

President of Hungary Katalin Novák, at the invitation of the people of Mosonmagyaróvár, visited Győr-Moson-Sopron County as her first destination among the counties of Hungary. Her visit included a commemorative event in memory of the victims of the '56 firing squad that she attended together with local residents, as well as meetings with people living and working in the county.

The Visegrád Four Heads of State Summit showed that despite their differences, the member countries still have a common message for Europe and the world. The meeting in Pozsony (Bratislava) focused on the war in Ukraine, aid for refugees, the energy crisis, energy independence, the attack on Nord Stream, the legitimacy of nuclear energy and mass illegal migration. 

We, the Presidents of Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania and Slovakia condemn the mass bombardments of Ukrainian cities recently carried out by Russia, which constitute war crimes under international law.  

We recall that war crimes and crimes against humanity are not subject to any statute of limitations and are covered by jurisdiction of courts all over the world.  

Katalin Novák met with Slovak President Zuzana Caputová in Bratislava. During the first official meeting between the two heads of state, they discussed bilateral relations, illegal migration, the war in Ukraine, the energy crisis in Europe and issues concerning Hungarians living in Slovakia. 

Zuzana Caputová described the meeting as open, frank and constructive, where, she said, shared and divergent views were equally discussed, and concluded that it was very important to maintain a dialogue on these issues. 

Katalin Novák paid a several-day official visit to the United States, where she addressed the UN General Assembly and met with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the President of the United States, several prominent heads of state, politicians, businessmen, representatives of international diplomacy, and with the leaders of various religious organizations and Hungarian American communities.

The world is mourning a leader who dedicated her whole life to the service of her nation.

We have lost a leader for whom her Christian faith was a day-to-day reality.

A leader who could remain calm, measured, wise and dignified in the most difficult situations.

Someone who knew what a treasure peace is.

We Hungarians are grateful to her also because she understood us and accepted and respected the different historical, geographical and cultural characteristics of nations.

We strive to remain worthy of her legacy.

The President of Hungary travelled to Kosovo primarily to visit Hungarian soldiers serving in the KFOR mission. Before that, however, she also met with President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani in Pristina.

At the joint press conference following their talks, Katalin Novák said that "Hungary plays a mediating role between the Western Balkans and the European Union." President Novák stressed that peace and security in the Western Balkans are necessary for peace and stability in Europe, and that KFOR is contributing to this.
