Sixty-nine years ago, people from the diverse community of Hungarians courageously took to the streets to celebrate freedom. Coming from different walks of life, social positions, and values, they set out together on the same path.

V4 Heads of State Summit convened by President Tamás Sulyok
Hungary, which currently holds the rotating presidency of the organisation, will host the Heads of State of the Visegrad Cooperation in Esztergom on Wednesday, 3 December 2025.
Hungary consistently and continuously advocates for close cooperation between the V4 countries, which is the basis for stability, security and strengthening in the region.
The Head of State is representing Hungary at the EU-Africa Summit in Luanda
Dr. Tamás Sulyok will represent Hungary at the European Union-African Union Summit in Luanda.
Starting 24 November 2025, the President of Hungary will represent Hungary at the 7th EU–Africa Summit in the Angolan capital.
The meeting of heads of state and government aims to establish and sustain regular, ongoing dialogue on the key issues and challenges facing the countries of the two continents, linked by a strategic partnership.
At the meeting, our country will be represented by the President of Hungary for the first time in 15 years.
Meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres at the Second World Summit for Social Development
The events of recent years in global politics and the increase in the number of armed conflicts have reinforced the importance of a strong, decisive and effective organisation, said Tamás Sulyok after meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres at the Second World Summit on Social Development. According to the President of Hungary, the 80-year history of the UN is proof that multilateral diplomacy is not just a noble idea, but one of the most important international means of achieving peace, security and prosperity.
According to President Sulyok, the Szeged Cathedral and Dome Square represent a special value in the life and thought of the nation
At the unveiling of the stele marking the declaration of the Szeged Cathedral and the square as a national memorial on the 150th anniversary of the birth of Kuno Klebelsberg, Dr. Tamás Sulyok stated that "The sky-high Cathedral and the huge square have grown dear to our hearts, the hearts of the people of Szeged." The square embodies sacredness, science and culture all at once. The height of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Hungary commands respect.
Dr. Tamás Sulyok, President of Hungary, visited the Laser Research Centre in Szeged
Dr. Tamás Sulyok, Head of State, speaking at an event organised by the Research Students Movement, of which he is the patron, told young people visiting the ELI-ALPS Laser Research Centre in Szeged that "the Szeged Research Centre is the driving force behind the development of laser technology".
"The future is born here," emphasised Dr. Tamás Sulyok, adding that Hungary is proud that ELI-ALPS operates in our country and that scientists from many countries around the world come here to conduct their research projects.
Diplomatic event hosted by Sándor Palace showcasing Hungarian folk art
First Lady of Hungary Zsuzsanna Nagy invited the spouses of the members of the Diplomatic Corps to a cultural programme.
After the First Lady’s welcome address delivered on the stage of the Hungarian Heritage House, the guests were treated to a performance by the Forrás Folk Dance Ensemble from Százhalombatta.
After the folk dance panorama presented by the ensemble, the young dancers invited the audience to join in the dancing.

On January 20, at the invitation of President of Hungary Katalin Novák, Croatian Head of State Zoran Milanović will arrive in Hungary – the Communications Directorate of Sándor Palace told MTI.
President Katalin Novák will receive President of Croatia Zoran Milanović with military honours at Kossuth square on Friday.
The Croatian President will then proceed to lay a wreath at Heroes’ Square followed by talks with President Katalin Novák.

Katalin Novák: the Hungarian nation is crisis resistant
Hungarians are a crisis resistant nation –President of Hungary Katalin Novák said in Budapest on Wednesday evening at the reception held for foreign ambassadors serving in Hungary.
In her speech delivered in English, Katalin Novák, who received the diplomats with her husband István Veres, said: the last year was one of the most difficult in the recent period, however, despite the many problems, the situation is not so bad, as the Hungarians have what it takes to overcome the challenges.

At the M4 Sport - Athlete of the Year Gala, President of Hungary Katalin Novák presented the lifetime Achievement Award of the Association of Hungarian Sport Journalists (MSÚSZ) to Olympic silver medallist kayaker and master coach Mrs. Rozsnyóiné Katalin Fábián.
The Association of Hungarian Sports Journalists (MSÚSZ) has chosen Kristóf Milák, the world record holder in men's swimming, and Luca Kozák, the women's hurdler, as Athletes of the Year 2022.
Katalin Novák attended Pope Benedict XVI's funeral service
President of Hungary Katalin Novák, her spouse István Veres and Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén attended the funeral mass for Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI who passed away on Saturday and paid homage to the pope lying in state.
The funeral mass was held at St Peter’s Basilica in Rome on Thursday. – the Communication Directorate of Sándor Palace told the Hungarian news Agency MTI.
Katalin Novák, her spouse and Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén were received by Pope Francis before the ceremony.
New Year's address by President Katalin Novák
Fellow Hungarians,
“That our country still stands is a miracle from God!” Thus wrote Sándor Petőfi, who was born 200 years ago today. How true this still is, after the unexpected difficulties of recent years.
We are still adjusting to the flavour of the sounds made when we say “2023”. Meanwhile we are cautiously asking what the coming year holds in store for each of us personally, and collectively for us as Hungarians.

"C'est un miracle de Dieu que notre pays soit encore debout !" - a écrit le poète Sándor Petőfi, né il y a 200 ans. Comme ce constat reste vrai même aujourd'hui, après les difficultés imprévues de ces dernières années.
Nous savourons encore le mot ‘2023’, et nous nous demandons avec prudence : que nous réserve l'année prochaine, à titre personnel et pour nous tous, Hongrois ?
Nous aimerions que cette prochaine année soit plus facile que cette dernière ne l'a été.

„Gottes Wunder, dass unsere Heimat noch besteht!” – schrieb der heute vor 200 Jahren geborene Sándor Petőfi. Wie wahr das doch auch heute ist, nach den unerwarteten Schwierigkeiten der vergangenen Jahre.
Wir sind noch erst dabei, uns mit dem Wort 2023 anzufreunden und stellen uns vorsichtig die Frage, was wohl das kommende Jahr für uns persönlich und für uns Ungarn insgesamt bringen wird.
