Statement from Sándor Palace regarding the documents relating to the decision known as the “pardon case”
The President of Hungary has fully supported the investigation into the pardon decision, known as the “pardon case” and referenced under KEH/2787-6/2023, from the outset. As stated in Sándor Palace’s statement of 19 May 2026, the President is prepared to cooperate with the Government to ensure that the public receives an accurate picture of the case, a matter which sparked widespread public outrage.
Based on the Prime Minister’s statement addressed to the President of Hungary and published on social media yesterday, Sándor Palace noted with regret that the Government - contrary to established administrative practice - is not cooperating in the transfer and receipt of the files relating to the pardon case.
In view of the heightened public interest, Sándor Palace does not wish to make the public disclosure of the official documents contingent upon the Government’s lack of cooperation.
In view of this exceptional situation, Sándor Palace is publishing the official documents in its possession on its website for the public to view.
Nevertheless, the President of Hungary considers it unacceptable that communication between the government and the other branches of constitutional power has shifted to social media and the press.
