It is challenging to recall the past on the Memorial Day of the Victims of Hungarian Holocaust.

Honourable Prime Minister, 

Honourable Speaker of the House, 

Ladies and Gentlemen, Hungarians in the Carpathian Basin and all around the world,
I stand before you and welcome you as the seventh President of the free Hungary, which dismantled the communist dictatorship. First and foremost, I would like to thank all those who have supported me and continue to do so.

Every year, the Three Seas Initiative (TSI) summit and business forum is organised with the participation of 13 countries (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Austria, Croatia, Romania, Greece, Bulgaria, Poland, Slovenia, Austria, Croatia and Bulgaria), situated between the Baltic, Black and Adriatic Seas.

Tamás Sulyok had a telephone conversation today with Israeli President Isaac Herzog.

The President of the State of Israel congratulated Tamás Sulyok on his election as President of Hungary. The two Heads of State reviewed the most important bilateral and international political issues. During the exchange of views, the Hungarian President stressed that Hungary is a close ally and best friend of Israel as well as its strategic partner in Europe.

Today, President Tamás Sulyok, in fulfilment of his constitutional duty, called the election of the members of the European Parliament in Hungary and the general election of local municipality representatives and mayors. 

The first simultaneous elections will take place on 09 June 2024.

We can become the renovated church of Europe, where people come to draw strength, said Tamás Sulyok, the President of Hungary, at the reconsecration ceremony of Ják’s St. George Church  (Vas County, Hungary) on Sunday.

Tamás Sulyok emphasized the need for revitalizing our communities.

We need to rebuild ourselves to each other, setting aside all obstacles, fears, uncertainties, and distrust, although this is not easy in the era of infidelity, where we lose the grace of connection, stated the President.

Tamás Sulyok: deepening the dialogue between Hungary and Poland is a key priority

Maintaining and deepening the dialogue between Poland and Hungary is of the utmost importance, said President of Hungary Tamás Sulyok at a joint press conference with President Andrzej Duda in Stary Sacz, southern Poland, on Friday.

The Hungarian President arrived in Poland on a working visit to mark the Day of Polish-Hungarian Friendship (23 March).

Open days at Sándor Palace

A year ago, at my inauguration, I promised to „open doors” for Hungary in the international arena, as well as at home, between Hungarians. 

This is also why on the anniversary, Sándor Palace welcomed those interested with open gates. Thus, thousands have seen the palace this year as well.

I thank all those who came to visit, young and old, residents of the countryside and the capital, supporters of the opposition or the government, people from all walks of life.

This day proved again that Sándor Palace is open to all.

I found my meetings in Békés very rewarding, and I trust that I was not the only one who felt this way - said Katalin Novák, President of Hungary, in an interview with our newspaper - the Békés Megyei Hírlap - about the three days she spent in our county at the end of January. During our conversation, we discussed how to motivate young people to settle in the region, spoke about the war in Ukraine and this year's elections, and why she declared 2024 the Year of Getting Active.

That I'm here for the first time, I experienced that it is, let's say, a constructive chaos, what we experience here, and also what the traffic is concerned, it's very difficult to get from one place to the other, but I have to assure you that the Swiss trains are on time. „Culture brings meaning to everyday life” – President Katalin Novák at the opening ceremony of Csokonai Forum in Debrecen

The new theatre complex, named Csokonai Forum, was inaugurated on 23 August 2022 with the play „Für Elise” by the Debrecen-born writer Magda Szabó. The opening ceremony was attended by the President of Hungary Katalin Novák.

In her speech, the Head of State stressed that we are fortunate to live in a country where attention is paid and resources are made available to develop culture, where there is the will not only to preserve but also to enrich what is ours.

Feast of King St Stephen, founder of the Hungarian state - Budapest - Székesfehérvár

In the presence of the President of Hungary Katalin Novák, the national flag of Hungary was raised in front of the Parliament of Hungary in Budapest on King St Stephen’s Day, the founder of our state. The flag was hoisted by the Parade Unit of the Hungarian Defence Forces to the sound of the Hungarian National Anthem on Kossuth Lajos Square.

10th anniversary celebration of the Camp Erzsébet Programme - Zánka, 15 August 2022

President Katalin Novák celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Camp Erzsébet Programme in Zánka together with the campers. Over the past decade, more than a million children have enjoyed a holiday at the church-founded camps. Young Hungarians have come to the camp at Lake Balaton not only from Hungary, but also from Erdély (Transylvania), Kárpátalja (Transcarpathia), Délvidék (in Croatia and Serbia), Felvidék (Slovakia) and Croatia.

Bled - Ljubljana – Lendva (Lendava)

Katalin Novák came to Slovenia on an official visit at the invitation of President Borut Pahor. Due to the good personal relations between the two heads of state, they jogged around Lake Bled together before the meeting. This was done to raise awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle and daily exercise.

Rio de Janeiro – Brasilia City- Sao Paulo

After Europe, Katalin Novák continued to strengthen Hungary's international relations in Latin America. The President of Hungary travelled to Brazil at the invitation of President Jair Bolsonaro.

Stipendium Peregrinum scholarship selection camp - Balatonszárszó, 1-3 July, 2022

Educated people are one of Hungary's most important resources, therefore the country needs young people with competitive skills, open to the world, who love their country and are hard-working, in order to be not only an observer but also an active contributor to the future. – said Katalin Novák at the National Talent Centre Stipendium Peregrinum scholarship camp.

Henri Matisse exhibition opening ceremony - Museum of Fine Arts

Today we are opening an exhibition of the works of a painter extraordinaire. We can be proud that Hungary is an attractive destination not only because of the beauty of Lake Balaton, good Hungarian cuisine, a family-friendly mentality and world-class sporting events, but also because fans of sophisticated culture can find delicacies here. Hungary offers high-class concerts of classical and popular music, theatre, artistic dance shows, circus, stunning architecture, stylish design and outstanding works of fine art.

Visit to the border: Debrecen – Fehérgyarmat 

As Commander-in-Chief of the Hungarian Defence Forces, President Katalin Novák visited one of the most exposed border sections of the country, the north-east section bordering on Ukraine and the military units stationed there and participating in the Eastern Shield 2022 mission.

The President ascertained the readiness of the soldiers and the tangible results achieved in the development of the Hungarian armed forces. The majority of the soldiers in the units serve in Hungary's largest land unit, the 5th István Bocskai Rifle Brigade of the Hungarian Defence Forces.

Riga –Three Seas Initiative Summit

Hungary’s head of state arrived in Riga at the invitation of Latvia’s President Egils Levits on 20 June 2022 to attend the Three Seas Initiative Forum. 

Launched in 2015, the Three Seas Initiative aims to ensure that Europe's existing east-west transport and energy infrastructure is complemented by north-south routes as soon as possible.
