On 9 June 2024, on the day of the elections to the European Parliament, local governments and of national minority advocates, Tamás Sulyok, President of Hungary and his wife cast their votes in Szeged. After the vote, the President said that since there have been free elections in Hungary, his wife Zsuzsa and he have always exercised their right to vote, and again urged his fellow citizens to vote as well.

Paying tribute to the memory of the martyrs of the 1956 revolution

At plot 301, President of Hungary Katalin Novák laid a wreath at the memorial to the victims of the reprisals after the 1956 revolution. 

The President placed flowers on the grave of the martyred Prime Minister Imre Nagy and the anonymous martyrs of the revolution.

Katalin Novák nominated sabre fencer Olympic champion Áron Szilágyi for the International Fair Play Award

Katalin Novák nominated Áron Szilágyi, Hungarian three-time Olympic, two-time World and three-time European sabre fencing champion for the International Fair Play Award. Áron Szilágyi is an athlete of Vasas Sports Club and the president of the club’s fencing division.

The Head of State announced: Áron Szilágyi was nominated not just because of his sport achievements, but also his sportsmanship in and out of the race. Katalin Novák emphasized that the athlete can be a role model for all.

The visiting Hungarian Head of State met Hereditary Prince Alois and his wife Hereditary Princess Sophia in Liechtenstein on Wednesday. The princely couple expressed their delight that the President of Hungary was visiting Liechtenstein for the first time. They agreed on the importance of protecting traditional values and the family.

After meeting with the Hereditary Prince, the Hungarian Head of State met with Prime Minister Daniel Risch, with whom she discussed family policy as well as economic relations between the two countries.
