Honourable Prime Minister, 

Honourable Speaker of the House, 

Ladies and Gentlemen, Hungarians in the Carpathian Basin and all around the world,
I stand before you and welcome you as the seventh President of the free Hungary, which dismantled the communist dictatorship. First and foremost, I would like to thank all those who have supported me and continue to do so.

Every year, the Three Seas Initiative (TSI) summit and business forum is organised with the participation of 13 countries (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Austria, Croatia, Romania, Greece, Bulgaria, Poland, Slovenia, Austria, Croatia and Bulgaria), situated between the Baltic, Black and Adriatic Seas.

Tamás Sulyok had a telephone conversation today with Israeli President Isaac Herzog.

The President of the State of Israel congratulated Tamás Sulyok on his election as President of Hungary. The two Heads of State reviewed the most important bilateral and international political issues. During the exchange of views, the Hungarian President stressed that Hungary is a close ally and best friend of Israel as well as its strategic partner in Europe.

Today, President Tamás Sulyok, in fulfilment of his constitutional duty, called the election of the members of the European Parliament in Hungary and the general election of local municipality representatives and mayors. 

The first simultaneous elections will take place on 09 June 2024.

Tamás Sulyok emphasized the need for revitalizing our communities.

We need to rebuild ourselves to each other, setting aside all obstacles, fears, uncertainties, and distrust, although this is not easy in the era of infidelity, where we lose the grace of connection, stated the President.

Tamás Sulyok: deepening the dialogue between Hungary and Poland is a key priority

Maintaining and deepening the dialogue between Poland and Hungary is of the utmost importance, said President of Hungary Tamás Sulyok at a joint press conference with President Andrzej Duda in Stary Sacz, southern Poland, on Friday.

The Hungarian President arrived in Poland on a working visit to mark the Day of Polish-Hungarian Friendship (23 March).

I found my meetings in Békés very rewarding, and I trust that I was not the only one who felt this way - said Katalin Novák, President of Hungary, in an interview with our newspaper - the Békés Megyei Hírlap - about the three days she spent in our county at the end of January. During our conversation, we discussed how to motivate young people to settle in the region, spoke about the war in Ukraine and this year's elections, and why she declared 2024 the Year of Getting Active.

Katalin Novák appointed Csaba Lantos as Minister for Energy

On the proposal by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, President of Hungary Katalin Novák appointed Csaba Lantos as Minister for Energy on Wednesday. The government decided to set up an independent Ministry for Energy in November. The new ministry is in charge of the integrated control of Hungary’s energy policy.

The President’s tour of Hungary continued in Komárom-Esztergom county

President of Hungary Katalin Novák continued her tour of the county in Komárom-Esztergom county.

She first travelled to the City of Kings, i.e. Esztergom, where she visited the Cathedral of the Assumption and St. Adalbert, more commonly known as the Basilica of Esztergom, which has been under complete renovation since 2019. Afterwards, she lit a candle at the tomb of Cardinal and Prince Primate József Mindszenty, who was born 130 years ago.

On official working visit to Israel – Jerusalem – Tel-Aviv

Katalin Novák paid an official working visit in the Middle Eastern country, invited by President of Israel Isaac Herzog. In addition to Israel’s Head of State, President Novák met with outgoing Premier Yair Lapid and Prime Minister-designate Benjamin Netanyahu, and held consultations with the leaders of local Christian communities.

The President of Hungary arrived at the Paris International peace Forum at the invitation of President of France Emmanuel Macron.

Speaking at the International peace Forum, the President of Hungary stressed that it is necessary to work together to bring down the obstacles on the path to peace. Katalin Novák summarised the factors working against peace in ten points. She underlined that peace is all the more difficult to achieve the longer the conflict has been going on, and that prolonged fighting causes increasing destruction and suffering and leads to the escalation of war.

On November 11, President of the French Senate Gérard Larcher received Katalin Novák, President of Hungary.

The meeting offered an opportunity to discuss current issues concerning relations between the European Union, France and Hungary, as well as to review the impacts of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and of the war.

President of Hungary Katalin Novák expressed hope that in the coming period Hungary and France will continue to deepen relations between the two countries on the basis of pragmatism and strengthen European coherence along these convergences.

Hungarians are loved and appreciated in the province of Ontario, and the Hungarian community here can count on Hungary as much as on Canada, said President Katalin Novák in Toronto, where she attended the closing gala event of Hungarian Heritage Month.
