President Tamás Sulyok received the Head of State of Kosovo
President Tamás Sulyok received President Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu of the Republic of Kosovo at Kossuth Square with military honours.
Following the ceremony, the two presidents and their delegations held official talks at Sándor Palace. During the meeting, the parties agreed on the common goal of Hungary and Kosovo to further deepen bilateral relations based on mutual respect and trust.
For Hungary, the Western Balkans region is a priority, and the security and stability of Kosovo is of particular importance. To this end, Hungary will continue its contribution to the KFOR mission, helping to preserve peace and security in the region.
There has also been significant economic progress: in 2024, imports, exports and total trade between the two countries reached unprecedented levels. The aim remains to strengthen economic ties, which could be helped by the establishment of a direct flight between the two countries.
Educational cooperation will also serve to deepen relations: under the Stipendium Hungaricum programme, the Hungarian side will provide scholarships for 75 students from Kosovo to study in Hungary each year. This opportunity could further strengthen the relationship between young generations.
Hungary remains a committed supporter of Kosovo's European integration and is willing to support Kosovo's EU accession in every possible forum.
