Sport has a special magic for us – Address delivered by Hungary’s Head of State on Hungarian Sports Day

The love of sport is our national characteristic, said President of Hungary Tamás Sulyok at the awards ceremony held on the occasion of the Hungarian Sports Day in the Puskás Arena. In his speech, the Head of State stressed that our country has a special place in the modern history of sport, as it is one of the founders of the Olympic movement and of the modern Olympic Games.

Just as we can support our athletes, we can also support each other. As we can appreciate their struggles even in times of failure, so too, we could respect each other's efforts," said the President.

Tamás Sulyok, while commending Hungarian achievements in sport, drew attention to those who provide the background, who provide a solid support for talented Hungarian athletes, who work for the success of Hungarian sport.

The event also included an awards ceremony, recognising the work of athletes, coaches and sports professionals who have enhanced the reputation of our country through their outstanding achievements. The event was a celebration of respect and commitment to sport, and an inspiration for future generations.
