Flag-hoisting ceremony at Kossuth Square – Appointments and promotions to the rank of general at Sándor Palace

In the presence of Dr. Tamás Sulyok, President of Hungary, and László Kövér, Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament, the Hungarian national flag was hoisted with military honours on the 177th anniversary of the 1848-49 Revolution and War of Independence on Kossuth Lajos Square in front of the Parliament building on 15 March 2025.
The ceremony was attended by the National Defence Forces Regiment, the Central Military Band and the Cavalry Regiment, as well as members of state and military organisations and representatives of the diplomatic corps.
After the event, the Head of State presented nine appointments and promotions to the rank of general at Sándor Palace.

•    promoted Police Brigadier General Dr. Sándor Gömbös to the rank of Major General,
•    appointed Police Colonel Dr. Tamás Sándor Mecser to the rank of Brigadier General,
•    appointed Fire Service Colonel Ottó Alajos Takács to the rank of Brigadier General,
•    appointed Police Colonel Annamária Zöllei-Varga to the rank of Brigadier General,

The President of Hungary, on the proposal of the Minister of Defence, with effect from 15 March 2025
•    appointed Dr. Ferenc József Molnár to the rank of Brigadier General,
•    appointed Zoltán Németh to the rank of Brigadier General,
•    appointed Colonel Ferenc Könczöl to the rank of Brigadier General,
•    appointed Colonel László Mészáros to the rank of Brigadier General.

Dr. Tamás Sulyok - on the proposal of the Minister of National Economy - with effect from 15 March 2025
•    appointed Colonel in the Financial Guard Zoltán Hajgató to the rank of Brigadier General.
