Winter Olympic Oath at Sándor Palace
The Hungarian team travelling to the Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina took their oath at Sándor Palace. President Dr. Tamás Sulyok stressed that it was an honour for him to welcome the 15 members of the Hungarian team competing in the 25th Winter Olympic Games at Sándor Palace before their departure.
Commenting on the smaller size of the Winter Olympic team compared to the Summer Olympic Team, the Head of State emphasized: “There is no small team — there is only the Hungarian team. What matters is not the quantity, but the quality.”
The President added that the "Hungarian sports family" is always a welcome guest at Sándor Palace.
According to the President of Hungary, the Olympians are already role models based on their preparedness, willpower and perseverance. Dr. Tamás Sulyok remarked that "we will see great results from them at the Milan-Cortina Games."
The Head of State also made a fitting request to the athletes: "Be each other's support in Italy, strengthening each other as a community, as a team!"
The President of Hungary concluded his speech with the words, "Go, Hungarians!"
Also present at the ceremonial oath-taking were Zsolt Gyulay, President of the Hungarian Olympic Committee, Ádám Schmidt, State Secretary for Sport, and Balázs Fürjes, Member of the International Olympic Committee.
