The Prime Minister of Georgia at Sándor Palace

President of Hungary Dr. Tamás Sulyok received the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze at Sándor Palace.

At the plenary session, the Hungarian Head of State stressed that Georgia is a key strategic partner for Hungary in the South Caucasus region. "We have many common roots with Georgia, which bind the two countries together, be it Christian culture or deep historical similarities." - said Dr Tamás Sulyok.

Irakli Kobakhidze thanked Hungary for its support and friendship. During the meeting, both sides underlined the close ties of friendship and the historical similarities and love of freedom that bind our countries together. Dr. Tamás Sulyok welcomed the official opening of the Honorary Consulate of Georgia in Szeged on 8 May 2025.

During the meeting, the Stipendium Hungaricum programme was discussed, under which Hungary provides 80 scholarships to Georgian students every year.
