The President of Hungary meets with the commanders of the Hungarian Gripen contingent in Lithuania

President Dr. Tamás Sulyok received the commanders of the Gripen contingent participating in NATO's Baltic air policing mission at Sándor Palace.

Hungary participated in the NATO Baltic Air Policing (BAP) mission for the fourth time between August and December 2025. The Hungarian Armed Forces' Baltic Air Policing Contingent, consisting of four JAS-39 Gripen fighter aircraft and approximately 80 personnel, was deployed to the Šiaulia Air Base in Lithuania, which has played a prominent role in recent years due to its proximity to the war in Ukraine. During four months and more than 400 flight hours, Hungarian pilots took to the skies 22 times in response to live emergency alerts.

As Commander-in-Chief of the Hungarian Armed Forces, Dr. Tamás Sulyok thanked the Hungarian service members for their dedicated and professional service, through which they have played an active role in the defence of Europe. The Head of State emphasised: "We are proud of the Hungarian service members who are holding their own all over the world."
