László Bölöni receives a state award

László Bölöni, a footballer who won the European Cup as a player, represented the Romanian national team, and later became a renowned head coach, received the Gold Medal of Merit from the President of Hungary on 19 March at the Sándor Palace. Dr Tamás Sulyok, President of Hungary, highlighted in his laudatory speech that during his career László Bölöni had evolved from player to internationally recognised coach, achieving significant success in several countries and becoming a defining figure in European football for decades. He added that his name had become synonymous in the profession with consistent, stable and persistent development.

The Head of State emphasised that, as a Hungarian from Transylvania, László Bölöni always remained true to his roots and became a true legend through his community-building work in both domestic and international football.
