Katalin Novák at a Papal Audience in the Vatican

President of Hungary Katalin Novák met with Pope Francis at the Vatican in Rome, where the Pope received the Hungarian Head of State in a private audience.

Katalin Novák met with the Head of the Catholic Church to discuss three important issues.

The primary theme was war.

They agreed to work together to achieve an early and long-term sustainable peace. They also agreed on what they can do together to ensure that children who have been abducted from Ukraine can return home as soon as possible.

They reaffirmed their alliance in standing up for traditional family values and protecting children.

Katalin Novák said that Pope Francis' visit to Hungary in April was not a one-off event, but would have a lasting impact for generations.

During the personal meeting, Katalin Novák presented the Holy Father with several personal gifts, including an icon from Transcarpathia of the Virgin Mary holding the Child Jesus in her hands, a book on the pilgrimage sites of Hungary and an album of the Pope's visit to Hungary. Pope Francis signed a copy of the album, thanking for the book commemorating his visit to Hungary.
