Katalin Novák honours Bishop Béla Kató

President of Hungary Katalin Novák awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of Hungary to Béla Kató, Bishop of the Transylvanian Reformed Diocese and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Sapientia Foundation, at Sándor Palace in Budapest. 

The President of Hungary described the honoree with the words "greatness in the minority".

Béla Kató received the award in recognition of his dedicated pastoral ministry and community-building church leadership, his value-creating work in the field of Hungarian mother tongue education, in the interest of the survival of the Hungarian intellectual heritage and culture in Transylvania, and his exemplary life serving national togetherness also through the power of Christian faith. 

The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly László Kövér.
