Katalin Novák in Békés County

As promised, in 2024, the President of Hungary has resumed her visits to the counties.
In Békés County, the Sándor Palace in remote office programme began, similarly to earlier county visits, with the raising of the national flag with military honours. Local residents graced the event with their attendance.

The Head of State then held talks with the county's leaders and Members of Parliament on the most important issues and problems affecting the region and its inhabitants.

Katalin Novák, as the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, was briefed by Gábor Böröndi, Chief of the Hungarian Defence Staff, and Norbert Tajti, Director General of the Military National Security Service, on issues concerning Hungary's security and the preparedness of the Hungarian Defence Forces.

In addition to the diplomatic talks held in Gyula Castle, the President of Hungary met with the people of Gyula and the surrounding area.

Later, in the house where Ferenc Erkel, the composer of Himnusz, Hungary’s national anthem, was born in Gyula, she was joined by students of the music school named after the composer, opera singer Erika Miklósa and music historian András Batta, and honoured the composer with a commemorative concert.
