We will be able to harness the opportunities offered by AI

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is gradually becoming part of our everyday lives, said President Tamás Sulyok at the AI Symposium 2025 conference in Budapest.

The Head of State stressed that he is convinced that the Hungarians will be able to make good use of the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence, their solutions serving the benefit of humanity.

The President added that technology alone will never solve our fundamental problems, but it can make the world more attractive, sustainable and secure.

Tamás Sulyok pointed out that human beings have unique creative intellectual power capable of fascinating discoveries, which cannot be copied.

The three-day event is jointly organised by the HUN-REN Hungarian Research Network and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore.

Tamás Sulyok said: "In the future, humanity can benefit from what science discovers today, with each idea opening a window of opportunity and leading to new discoveries. This is how the world evolves and life is renewed," the President added.

He stressed the need to constantly remember that we are responsible for what we have created and invented.

Originality will always remain a human characteristic, not to be programmed by algorythms, the President said, adding that artificial intelligence can raise many ethical questions, to which we must respond by finding our moral compass and living accordingly.

In order to exploit the results of AI and benefit from the revolutionary technological change, we need broad cooperation and intensive knowledge sharing, active international relations and the involvement of purpose-oriented Hungarian researchers, the Head of State pointed out.
